• another encrypted email solution

From Ogg@21:4/106.21 to All on Wed Apr 14 21:28:00 2021
I just learned of this one:

    https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/desktop-clients/

Secure desktop clients for Linux, Windows and Mac OS (Beta).

Tutanota is an encrypted email service, available as web client
with open source apps for Android and iOS. We invite you all to
test our brand-new open source desktop clients with built-in
    encryption.

The article is a bit dated, but has anyone here tried tutanota?

Yes, I am a Tutanota customer, only sucky thing is you cant
access the mail outside of their clients.

What do you mean can't access outside?

Non-Tutonota users can read your messages as long as they use
the Tutonota gateway/interfaces, no? And that seems to be
required inorder to retain the privacy that the whole system is
    about.

Tutanota seems to work a lot like Protonmail. But with
Protonmail I can send a message unencrypted and it will reach
it's intended user without further action required. If I send
an encrypted message, I need to establish a password that the
recipient can use when they want to read the mail.

You cant use outlook or another email client to download the mail.

If you could do that, that would defeat and break the whole
nature of the encrypted message. There are plenty of other non-
encrypted non-private email alternatives out there.

Or have a flag where non-encrypted messages are downloaded and the encrypted messages are left on the server.
