    Mesoscale Discussion 0814
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
    0604 PM CDT Sun May 30 2021

Areas affected...portions of the Oklahoma and northern Texas
    Panhandles

    Concerning...Tornado Watch 226...

    Valid 302304Z - 310030Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 226 continues.

SUMMARY...Locally higher tornado threat is expected to continue for
at least the next couple of hours along a near-stationary boundary.
Large hail will also be a concern with the more persistent updrafts.

    DISCUSSION...Multiple discrete/semi-discrete supercells are in
progress across portions of the western Oklahoma Panhandle and
northwest Texas Panhandle, with 50 dBZ echoes exceeding 40 kft, and
18 dBZ echo tops exceeding 55 kft over the past hour per MRMS mosaic
radar data. MRMS mosaics have also shown 2+ inch diameter MESH, with
tornadoes reported on at least 3 separate storms within the last 1-2
hours in this area. In addition to 1000-1500 J/kg MLCAPE and 40+ kts
of effective bulk shear, these storms appear to be traversing a
near-stationary baroclinic zone, where locally higher streamwise
vorticity is available. The boundary-layer is expected to remain
mixed/unstable for at least a few more hours, with 100-200 m2/s2
effective SRH available to support the potential for a couple more
tornadoes with storms that interact favorably with the boundary.
